EMS Agency Donation Readiness Recognition Program
The Rescue to Recovery EMS Agency Recognition Program celebrates Wisconsin EMS agencies that are committed to improving organ, tissue, and eye donation education among their teams.
EMS professionals play an important role in preserving the opportunity for donation through high-quality care, communication, documentation, and agency-level preparedness. This recognition program highlights agencies that have completed the Keeping Hope Alive – Your Role In Preserving the Opportunity for Organ and Tissue Donation course and are taking steps to strengthen donation awareness within their organization.
The course is CAPCE-accredited, offers 1.0 CE hour, and is designed for all levels of EMS personnel.

Each recognized agency will receive a certificate that clearly identifies the recognition level achieved and the completion metric met.
Application Requirements
To apply, agencies will be asked to provide:
- Agency name and primary contact information

- Number or percentage of staff who completed the course
- A full staff list including first name, last name, and email address
- Confirmation of whether the agency has a medical protocol related to the donation process:

The staff list helps WEMSA verify course completion, including situations where agencies complete the training as a group or classroom session.
Recognition Process
After an application is submitted, WEMSA will review the information provided and may coordinate with the appropriate organ procurement organization partner to confirm agency participation and relationship status.
Once approved, the agency will receive recognition at the appropriate level. WEMSA and Rescue to Recovery partners may also coordinate opportunities for in-person certificate presentations, photos, or promotional recognition.
Why Participate?
Participating in the recognition program helps your agency:
- Demonstrate a commitment to organ, tissue, and eye donation education
- Support staff understanding of donation-related care considerations
- Promote consistent awareness of donation pathways and agency protocols
- Strengthen collaboration with Wisconsin donation partners
- Receive recognition for your department’s education efforts
EMS providers are often the first link in the donation process, and their care in the field can help preserve the opportunity for donation.
Complete the Course
Before applying for recognition, agency staff should each complete: Keeping Hope Alive – Your Role In Preserving the Opportunity for Organ and Tissue Donation. This course helps EMS professionals better understand their role in preserving the donation opportunity in the field, without changing protocols, and includes instruction from EMS and organ donation professionals.
