Each month, WEMSA members will be able to access a free online webinar exclusive to members only! Accredited for 1 CEU, each month will feature a different topic that is relevant to a variety of EMS levels. December's webinar will take place on December 17th from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM. You must register for the course using your member profile to ensure you have access to the Zoom link.

December's topic is Beyond Awareness: Changing Stigma Through Action with Jennifer Parra Nelsen. Jennifer is a clinical director at Rogers Behavioral Health. She has worked for Rogers for 11 years and is an expert in PTSD and exposure therapy. Jennifer is the Trauma Recovery service line leader for the organization, strengthening the interventions and application of the program. Jennifer also directs the Trauma Recovery Residential Program. She takes pride in also directing the Fire Watch Intensive Outpatient Program. This program is only for first responders and veterans. The program was lead, written and continues to be supported by those with lived experience. Jennifer is the proud daughter of a Marine. 

Course Description:  In this course, we will talk about what happens during job-related stressful situations with the brain and body. You will learn how to rewire the brain's trauma response through communication. We will explore how to manage and have difficult conversations as well as how to tolerate the comfortability of these conversations. Then we will talk about how these small action steps will systematically change the work environment.
