WEMSA is excited to introduce a new Department Member benefit: our partnership with Coaching Systems and American Safety Institute, providers of CEVO (Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator) driver safety training and certification programs used by EMS and fire agencies nationwide.
Join us for this introductory session with Brent Matheson, Head of Curriculum at Coaching Systems, where we'll walk through everything this partnership brings to WEMSA Department members, including:
- An overview of the CEVO 5 (Ambulance) and CEVO 4 (Fire) programs, available fully online or in-person using a kit and response book format
- How the Train-The-Trainer course works - included with every Instructor's Kit purchase, this 5–6 hour session covers instructional techniques, program design, and content questions, resulting in both a Certificate of Completion and an Instructor Certificate for those who pass
- How WEMSA Department Members can receive a 20-30% discount off list price across instructor kits, response books, and the fire/ambulance online course library, with additional volume pricing as quantities increase
- How to request a quote and get your organization started with Coaching Systems
Whether your organization is renewing driver training or just getting a program off the ground, this session will give you the full picture of what's available and how to take advantage of your member discount.
About Coaching Systems

"Coaching Systems has been around since the 1980s and has built a focus in training emergency vehicle operators to meet the unique demands of Ambulance and Fire response through our Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator program, known as “CEVO”.
The CEVO course combines driver safety best practices that are applied to our industry and vehicles, including vehicle-specific live footage and research. Our courses also include exercises and case studies focused only on the vehicle that’s being trained and are refreshed to bring in the latest information. Compared to a lot of the generic training that’s on the market, this approach helps connect to the driver in a meaningful way and builds safer habits behind the wheel.
We’re now partnered with over 3,000 organizations, including some of the largest fleets and insurance carriers in the country, and we’re proud to support reducing crashes and improving fleet safety programs for our partners."
