Each month, WEMSA members will be able to access a free online webinar exclusive to members only! Accredited for 1 CEU, each month will feature a different topic that is relevant to a variety of EMS levels. These educational webinars will be the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 pm. You must register for the course using your member profile to ensure you have access to the Zoom link.

Course Description: This course offers EMRs, EMTs, and AEMTs a fundamental understanding of electrocardiograms (ECGs) and their significance in prehospital care. Designed for providers who frequently encounter cardiac arrhythmias but may not fully grasp their clinical implications, this class bridges the gap between recognition and understanding. By the end of the session, participants will understand concerning rhythms and making informed transport decisions to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Learning Objectives:

Recognize and describe the basic components of an ECG (P wave, QRS complex, T wave) and understand their significance in cardiac function.

Understand common cardiac arrhythmias encountered in prehospital care and explain their potential impact on patient health and stability.

Demonstrate proper lead placement and effective communication of ECG findings to paramedics and receiving hospital staff to facilitate appropriate patient care.
