The Wisconsin EMS Association (WEMSA) Foundation, a 501c3 Charitable Foundation is proud to announce the winner of our 2023 - 2024 Academic Year Annual Scholarship: Alexis Plaski.
Alexis Plaski will be honored at the WEMSA 2024 Conference & Expo held in Green Bay, WI on January 30 - February 2, 2024.
Alexis Plaski Bio: My name is Alexis Plaski and I am a paramedic student at Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids, WI and look forward to completing school in May. I work for the Amherst Fire District as both a Firefighter and AEMT and look forward to many years of service. Along with working on the fire department, I also work at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh in the emergency department. My path in EMS began when I enrolled in an EMR course during my junior year of high school. Following that, I completed EMT-B training after graduating from high school, started working in both field and emergency department settings, and eventually, a few years later, I pursued A-EMT certification. My long term goals include working as a Firefighter/Paramedic for my hometown in Amherst, and I eventually hope to obtain my critical care endorsement. I am thankful for my community for their continuous support over the years, for not only me, but for all who continue to serve the community. I am extremely thankful and grateful to the WEMSA Foundation for the generous scholarship that I have been awarded to help me achieve my long term goals and aspirations.
The WEMSA Foundation Selection Committee reviewed all applications from students enrolled in approved EMS programs across Wisconsin before coming to a decision. This scholarship was made possible as part of a 5-year commitment from the Schoenleber Foundation, Inc. to provide an annual scholarship of $1,000 to students enrolled in approved EMS programs in Wisconsin. Starting the 2024-2025 Academic Year, the WEMSA Foundation will be offering additional scholarships thanks to a partnership and establishment of the Lake Mills EMS Legacy Scholarship Program.
The WEMSA Foundation appreciates the Schoenleber Foundation for their donation and annual commitment to make this scholarship possible. We thank every applicant for submitting to this scholarship program and we hope to provide additional scholarship opportunities in the future. We are actively seeking additional donors to expand the number of scholarships we provide on an annual basis.
