We are now accepting speaker presentations for consideration for the 2019 Wisconsin EMS Association Working Together Conference scheduled for January 16th-19th, 2019, in Milwaukee, WI at the Wisconsin Center.

Wisconsin EMS Association conference program features innovative, thought-provoking and educationally sound topics that are relevant to EMTs, paramedics, critical care providers, EMS educators, emergency nurses, EMS medical directors, EMS administrators, EMS Dispatchers, Fire Fighters and EMS managers.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the advancement of our profession and gain visibility as a leader in EMS.

We are offering the following educational tracks: BLS, ALS, Critical Care, Pediatrics/Geriatrics/Special Populations, Fire Science,  Management/Operations, EMS Dispatch,  and Educator/Leadership (Variety).

The majority of the core conference sessions at WEMSA Working Together are 60 minutes duration, including time for  Q&A.

Pre Conference workshops are offered on Wednesday, January 16th, and Thursday, January 17th. Pre Conference workshops can be offered in either a half-day, of full-day hands-on style setting.

We are also accepting presentations that are 20 minutes in length for the “EMS Talks” section of the conference, where there may be multiple speakers presenting on a similar topic. These sessions will be offered during preconference on Wednesday and Thursday.

We are accepting single speaker presentations, as well as suggestions for panel discussions. Applicants may have more than one submission for any type of session.

Proposals are due by: April 30, 2018

Submit your presentation(s) by April 30th at 11:59 PM via the WEMSA website Speaker Submission tab at The selected submitters will receive an e-mail notification of participation by May 31, 2018. If your submission was not selected, you will be notified via email.

Please note that e-mail and paper submissions will NOT be accepted.

Additional Proposal Considerations:

Members of the Program Conference Committee evaluate all proposed presentations based on the following criteria:

  • Overall quality

  • Relevance to the EMS community

  • Well-defined focus within the track structure

  • Practical applications of material;

  • Timeliness of the topic and speaker qualifications

When submitting your proposal(s) consider the following guidelines:

  • Top consideration is given to new, high-quality and/or timely topics not previously presented at past WEMSA Working Together Conferences or other local/national events

  • Strong consideration will be given to presentations that focus on solutions and best practices for both field providers and EMS leaders

  • Your session description should answer the following: What will attendees gain from this session? What are the learning objectives? What will attendees take home to their place of employment?

We recommend speakers submit several presentations (max: 5) for consideration, as faculty members typically present several sessions at WEMSA Working Together. 

NOTE: You are limited to a maximum of 5 submissions for consideration. One submission per topic. *If you want to submit more than one topic; each topic requires a separate application submission. 

Submission Instructions:

  • If you have any affiliation with the Wisconsin EMS Association in the past, or if you have presented within the last 3 years, you likely have an account already established with our proposal software. Your log-in will be the email address we have on file or have contacted you in the past with. Once you enter your email/log-in info you will be prompted to create a password.

  • If you are new to the Wisconsin EMS Association or have not presented within the last 3 years, you will need to create an account. Follow the instructions below.

Proposal Requirements:

Your proposal MUST include:

  • A description of your prospective presentation topics, session descriptions, including 3-5 course objectives

  • A short concise 150 word bio describing your education and experience in EMS (to be used in promotional materials)

  • The names and post-nominals of each speaker/instructor (If panel discussion, or group led course)

  • High-Resolution Color Photo and your Personal Contact Info

Submitting your Abstract

  1. Navigate to the Speaker Submission portal
  2. Log in with your WEMSA member credentials. Don't have credentials? Create a profile here!
  3. Enter the Title of your submission in the box labeled "Abstract Title"
  4. Select "WEMSA 2019 Conference Speaker Proposals" in the drop-down
  5. Click Continue
  6. Fill in the details, then upload your file and click Submit
  7. If needed, Edit your existing submission
