State of WEMSA – Annual Membership Meeting

Join Wisconsin EMS Association Board President, Josh Kowalke, and the entire WEMSA board of directors, along with Executive Director, Marc Cohen, as the formal membership meeting is conducted for the year. Many new projects are on the horizon for WEMSA! They will also discuss where WEMSA has been in the past year and share their insight as to where they see WEMSA headed into the future.

Trauma, From the Inside Out

In trauma patients, what you don’t see is sometimes even more important than what you do! Dr. Ahrens has been a presenter at the Working Together conference and is known for her interactive presentations. This session is sure to challenge and entertain you into thinking about trauma patients in a whole new realm.

Community EMS 101

We have all heard for the past few years that Community EMS is closing in on Wisconsin, but what does that mean for you? How close is Wisconsin to making this a reality? Dr. Kim Litwack, Dean of the Nursing Department at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, will be joining us as a pioneer in the field of Community EMS to discuss what Community EMS means for you as a provider, as well as how you can take advantage of its offerings to benefit your community.

Results of the EMS TCD Assessment

Staff from the Wisconsin Office of Rural Health will lead a discussion and analysis of the assessment of patient care policy and practices focusing on TCD (Time Critical Diagnosis) for stroke STEMI, trauma and cardiac arrest patients.

Introduction to MABAS for EMS

“Dispatch from Command…We need another 10 ambulances at this scene and another 3 engines for fire suppression.” What are you going to do? Do you have the plan in place in case of this scenario? Join the MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) staff as they discuss and walk you thru the MABAS program with an emphasis on the unlimited amount of resources that can be mobilized to support a catastrophic event. They will also discuss how MABAS can be a resource in the events we as providers see every day.

EMS State of the State

What is happening in Wisconsin EMS? What is going on nationally that affects EMS in Wisconsin? Join the staff from the Wisconsin EMS Office as they lead the discussion on scope of practice, license renewal and other topics the affect EMS delivery in Wisconsin.

Open forum/Discussion

Have you ever wished you could tell leaders of our state EMS system what your local challenges are as rural or volunteer provider? What unique challenges do you face as a career provider or EMS service director? Here is your chance to “bend the ear” of state EMS leaders. The goal of this listening session is for state and WEMSA leaders to hear the concerns, ideas and suggestions of local EMS providers that will lead to a better statewide EMS system. Attend this session to get your questions answered and have your voice be heard.
