General Duties:
The Chippewa Fire District is now accepting applications for the Firefighter/Paramedic 2021 eligibility List. Firefighter/Paramedics are responsible for protecting life and property from the hazards of fire and other emergencies. Apply fire suppression methods to control and stop property damage, save lives through rescue, perform safety inspections, and provide public fire safety education. Meet and comply with FF I or II. Respond to emergency calls and provide efficient and immediate care to the ill and injured. Respond to other types of call back emergencies, disasters that may occur in the community and assist neighboring communities as assigned. Provide Paramedic level care concurrent within the District’s EMS Protocols. Maintain all required licensures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, current valid driver’s license, National Registered and WI Licensed Paramedic, completion of CCNRP or obtain within two years of hire, Certified Firefighter I or II, Hazard Material Ops Training, complete NIMS 100, 200, and 700, Blood Borne pathogen training. Have passed Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) no more than two years ago, ability to pass a CPAT within one year of hire, or one year of service in the last two years with the Fire District documenting ability to work as FF/Paramedic with no deficiencies. The minimum overall score set by the Fire Commission for a written test or one year of service in the last two years with the Fire District documenting ability to work as FF/Paramedic with no deficiencies.
The required position schedule is nine (9) – 24-hour shifts and some 24-hour backup shifts in a 28-day period.
