The Wisconsin EMS Association has lost a long-time supporter, the Random Lake Fire department has lost one of it’s pioneer members, and the Wisconsin EMS community has lost a friend. Ray Scholler of Random Lake passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the age of 97. As the son of the founder of Times Printing Company, Scholler began printing the WEMTA Journal in the early years of the Wisconsin EMS Association. After the Association ran into financial struggles during the early 1980s, Scholler graciously agreed to write off past due printing bills that totaled more than the net worth of WEMTA at that time. Times Printing, which has become among the 100 largest printing companies in North America, continues as the printer of EMS Professionals magazine and Working Together conference brochures through this day.
Scholler’s commitment to emergency medical services and the fire service was also evident in his local community of Random Lake as he became one of the first EMTs in the state and later allowed employees of his printing company to leave work and respond to emergency calls. He has received numerous awards for his efforts including Firefighter of the Year and Wisconsin EMT of the Year. Even at the age of 97, Scholler was still listed as an active member of the Random Lake Fire Department and was a continuous supporter of local and state EMS.
An article detailing some of Scholler’s extensive list of accomplishments is available online here. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5PM on Sunday, September, 27th, at Our Lady of the Lakes, St. Mary’s Chapel, 230 Butler Street, Random Lake. The family will receive visitors at the church from 1-5PM. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers. A walk-through is scheduled at 3PM for Random Lake Fire Department, Badger Firefighters Association and American Legion Post 145. See the complete death notice here.

We’ve done it again for the 2016 cruise! Everyone who has already booked a balcony cabin paid as much as $340 less than current rates ($360 less than our early bird rate for double occupancy). If you were to book this exact same cruise on your own right now from the Carnival website, you’d pay $340 more! Oceanview cabins are currently $160 more than the EMS Cruise price and interior cabins are selling for $200 more! (all based on double occupancy) Read More »

Bystanders with cameras, including some of them mounted to unmanned aircraft or Drones, are on the rise. Two feature articles in EMS Professionals magazine detail what’s legal and what’s not when it comes to cameras on the scene. The article also details both what emergency responders can, and what they cannot, do. The articles talk about multiple videos and court cases, which we’ve provided for you.
Everyone can check out the video clips and other items but you have to be a Wisconsin EMS Association member to see the magazine and read the articles. WEMSA members can login and download a copy of the magazine right now along with seeing the features in their mail copy of the magazine.
