    WEMSA Mourns Loss of Dedicated Volunteer

    The Wisconsin EMS Association and the EMS community said farewell to longtime EMS volunteer. Dale Merrill, of Wheatland and Harshaw. Merrill passed away on July 23, 2015 at the age of 80.

    Dale was a longtime Wisconsin EMS Association member and volunteered with the Working Together conference committee for 23 years. Dale and his wife, Grace, helped out with the conference during the very early years and continued for about as long as WEMSA held the annual event. They were both familiar faces to regular conference goers. As attendees picked up their registration materials, everyone seemed to know Dale and Grace. The highlight for Dale during the busy conference week was seeing his many EMS friends but he took his duty of doling out conference gifts very seriously. “One per person,” he’d say.     State EMS Office Paramedic Coordinator To Join WEMSA

    A vital position will soon face a vacancy within the Wisconsin state office of Preparedness and Emergency Health Care. Paramedic Coordinator Fred Hornby will soon be leaving his post after five years with the state EMS office. He currently serves as the Paramedic and Education coordinator. Hornby has been a big advocate of maintaining the highest standards for Wisconsin’s EMS system. His dedication to EMS has helped raise the standards and professionalism within the statewide EMS system. Hornby was instrumental in elevating the level of customer service in the EMS Office.
