About the Event

We're excited to be able to get a first hand look at what Hanken called a 'the next big fire and EMS service sharing/consolidation report' on Ozaukee County.

Henken will also discuss reports he helped put together for La Crosse, and Jefferson Counties. His presentation will also touch on examples like the South Shore Fire Department in Racine County, Western Lakes Fire District in Waukesha County and the North Shore Fire Department in Milwaukee County - which has received national attention as an example of success.

The Wisconsin Policy Forum will highlight findings that show there is the potential for municipal collaboration that would enhance service levels and and allow those services to keep up with capital needs at a cost that would be far lower than if they attempted to do so individually.

For smaller communities in particular, service sharing or consolidation may offer an opportunity to secure full-time fire and EMS service capacity for a price tag that would not be affordable if pursued independently.

Meanwhile, for larger communities facing service expansion demands, such strategies may offer the opportunity to spread the cost of such expansion while providing a higher level of service across a broader geographic area.
